I have been using Smugmug for awhile now but this is my first attempt to use Dgrin. I am sure I am doing this wrong so please bear with me.

I recently went out to my nieces ranch to take pics of her horses and found that a few of them turned out to be pretty popular with her equestrian friends. The one I have posted here has recently become a hit with some of her friends but now I am concerned that my first attempt to edit the color may be a bit off. Even though I was happy with first attempt because of the neat colors I got from the setting sun, Nick at Smug showed me what it would be like if we tweaked the white balance. his attempt looked good but it took the file size way down to below the "high res" threshold of 4 megs. I played with the RAW image a bit and got rid of some of the blue cast while still keeping a large file size but now I am torn because I can't decide which image to keep. Any help would be appreciated, my neice wants to post a link to my site with some clubs but I asked her to wait until I decide what image to stay with. The link takes you to the gallery with the four samples, number 4 may look the best to some people but I would rather have a larger file size.

I looked at all 4 and to me the colour seems most true in the 1st one. #2 is too pale. #3 is a weird shade and #4 is almost the same as #1.

The info button for each photo, shows the same resolution for each. It looks like the file size of number 4 is smaller, but I can't tell any jpeg compression issues with it, if that is your concern. I like number 4 the best myself. You shouldn't notice any difference based on resolution or compression.

Since the file size of number 4 is less than 4 MB I can not sell it as a high res image. That may not be a real big deal to most but whenever possible I like to offer that as an option. The other two options for the customer would be to get the 1 MB low res download or to pay my higher fee to get the original size option. In any case I don't see enough difference between 1 & 4 to justify having NO high res offer for the customer. But then again, that's why I am asking you nice folks to help me decide. Thanks for your help.

Why not let the customer decide: Bust down the schematics of resolution, vs price, with them? I voted on a web version, myself, but the larger file, less compressed version, may possibly be worth a bit more money to the client. Hey Ho, I say!

When you offer a photo online 24/7 it is kind of hard to discuss the merits of each image with the customer. I do understand what you are saying and it is worth looking at with clients I meet with. But for my 24/7 sales I need to bite the bullet and make a decision. Thanks very much for your suggestion.
