Linux tips

I am running Linux and have been able to do most everything I have tried so far at SmugMug - but I was wondering if there might be a list of tips or extra gotchas that it might be good to know about.

I'll start - Blogger doesn't like to do theme uploads via FF 3.x on KUbuntu 8.04 apparently.

Thanks, David. I don't know if the lack of activity means that nobody else uses Linux or if it means that everything works just fine so there are no special tips. Like I said though - I have only run into that 1 snafu with Blogger so far.

smugget and smugup work well if you like the terminal
I've also like using picasa with the smugmug plugin to upload/edit, works great.

There is a known issues with the smugmug web interface and the slide show button in linux, related to shockwave.

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head at the moment.

I'm pretty sold on using GIMP and digiKam for my editing - what do you use picasa for? Just the upload or is that what you do the majority of your workflow in?

picasa is nice and simple for little touch up or crops, i don't make a living from photos, it's just a hobby and to show family/friends what i've been up to and the misc events i shoot at, you could say I use it for a majority of my stuff, if needed i'll jump on gimp or use the mac though for better control.

Amen brother. When I'm on the linux box, GIMP is the best. If I hadn't received CS3 for free I'd be running it on XP too.
