IPhone Pics support...really!?!?
The first new feature in months and it's to upload pictures from a cell phone! Come on SmugMug, do you even read the feature request thread? How about something simple like copying pictures (not moving) from one gallary (or another's user gallery) to another...pretty basic. How about a SmugMug app to show off our pictures in Facebook. If I wanted to take pictures with my or my daughter's phone (my daughter has an IPhone) and show them off I would have joined Flickr or some site targeted for less serious photographers. Maybe after you offer the most basic features photographers need, you might tackle features such as uploading and geo tagging a cell phone picture :rolleyes . My Pro contract is up in January and I have enjoyed my time with SmugMug but when I have had to bother SmugMug help with the most basic of requests and thier feature priorities are to people taking pictures with cellphones, I am realizing that I am not the customer they are trying to please. I guess I should look for a more committed and serious photo hosting site, at least one that caters to people with a real camera.

Not responding to the whole rant, just this part.
-I scoff at people who don't shoot in raw.
-I've owned all three 1Ds bodies and generally only shoot w/prime lenses
-I love my large format
-I recently shot with a H3D-II for a week and can almost justify purchasing one
-I own a 9600 printer and if I'm printing anything it better be BIG
-If its not worth hanging on the wall its not worth photographing
I swore I'd never shoot photos on a cameraphone, I'm a snob: what a waste. But I shoot TONS of photos with SmugShot. I probably shoot more photos in a given month on my iPhone then w/a camera lately (mostly because I'm so busy at work). Several people here at SmugMug HQ are finding we use it more then we ever planned on using.
Its awesome and thats a totally unbiased opinion
Perhaps you've missed our release notes: http://blogs.smugmug.com/release-notes/
The iPhone app is hardly the only update we've made, and it's not even the most recent... it just didn't get advertised via email until now... because we forgot to send that announcement while we were so busy doing other cool things (see the aforementioned release notes). And the stuff that's going to happen between now and your stated renewal date of January... heh, some of it is going to blow the socks off our professional customers. Things they've been asking for for a while now. We've been growing the sorcery staff all year, different folks work on different things. Oh, and between your stated renewal date in January, and your actual renewal date in April... we'll be able to have 4 more months of innovation.

We have a new and full-time sorcerer for social apps like showing your pics off on Facebook and promoting your photography business, but it will take him awhile to develop, test, debug, etc.
The iPhone app came out awhile ago but our email announcing it was a couple of months late. In the meantime, there have been quite a few new features and several getting close that are just for pros. Just fyi, the iPhone app is the most popular feature we've ever done wrt sales, which is helping us expand the team to provide more features, so I think your pro account will be helped an not robbed by this.
All the best,
Baldy
