I'm stuck in Southern California for school at UC San Diego, so no Yosemite for me this time.
While you guys were doing your Yosemite thing, I was shooting a birthday party for a client. I am ridiculously jealous of your landscape opportunities, but since I can't be at two places at once, here goes...
This was the birthday party of Devon, who turned 4 years old yesterday.
ABOVE: Devon and his grandma, and oddly mismatched friend in background.
ABOVE: friend of Devon's
ABOVE: Come along now Mother, it's time to go. Say goodbye to your friends.
ABOVE: Our lives are very dramatic.
ABOVE: Adult small-talk deprives child of much needed affection, hugs
ABOVE: Spin
ABOVE: Television. Get em' while they're young.
ABOVE: Who are all of these people, and what are they doing in my house?!
ABOVE: Devon's lil sister, Veran, and grandma.
ABOVE: The Balloon Mysteries. Vol IV
ABOVE: Friend of Devon's
ABOVE: Devon & aunt in bouncy castle
ABOVE: Devon & his father Stanley in bouncy castle
ABOVE: The whole family. Lisa, Stanley, Devon, and Veran.
Thanks for taking a look. Hopefully I can hit up Yosemite with you guys next time, if I'm in the area.
All shots taken with Canon 10d. All but the last shot were taken with 35mm F2 at F4.0, last shot taken with 85mm 1.8 USM at F8.0.
Cheers :rofl

Meeting everyone, or not meeting everyone, that is what I feel I missed.

*sigh And about your yosemite comment, I believe there are courses you can take that teach tolerance to anti-yosemites such as yourself.

fantastac collection of photos - are you willing to travel to Arkansas this fall and take my son's party pics?! (for free?!)
Brian
I second the comments about your website. I just got back from browsing there. What an amazing collection of photographs you continue to add to. You have a lot of talent!
$250? Your clients are robbing you!!!!!

Daniel,
Quite sure your clients must be thrilled with the shots, especially the last one of the entire family. Nice post-processing too.

I bet there are a few people who'd go on a local safari
We missed all the folks that couldn't attend the Shootout. But as you posted, there's lots of us NorCal shooters who'd like nothing better than another get together. Ian, Dee, Ed, myself and some of the LA group would probably jump at the chance. Let us know
Beautiful work and thanks for sharing,
Steve
You've been on my list of local people I'd love to meet.
I'm just stunned at your birthday party images. I thought I'd be bored, ho hum, another birthday party -- these are photojournalistic to the nth degree! You certainly got great expressions -- including that watching TV gazed over look I see in my grandson all the time.
The family group is excellent, I'm sure that's a photo they will treasure for a long, long time.
You've come a long way since your first posts -- and you're not a photography major, heh?

Every time I go to a party, I think oh, snapshots. I'll take the cheapo point and shoot.
But your images are going to make me look at the next party differently. Thanks for posting your excellent visual insights!
Nope, I am not studying photography at all at school... that's more of an independent thing. I'm actually a sociology major as of now!
