I'm stuck in Southern California for school at UC San Diego, so no Yosemite for me this time.

While you guys were doing your Yosemite thing, I was shooting a birthday party for a client. I am ridiculously jealous of your landscape opportunities, but since I can't be at two places at once, here goes...

This was the birthday party of Devon, who turned 4 years old yesterday.

21558792-O.jpg

ABOVE: Come along now Mother, it's time to go. Say goodbye to your friends.

21558759-O.jpg

ABOVE: Our lives are very dramatic.

ABOVE: Adult small-talk deprives child of much needed affection, hugs

ABOVE: Television. Get em' while they're young.

21558773-O.jpg

ABOVE: Who are all of these people, and what are they doing in my house?!

ABOVE: Devon's lil sister, Veran, and grandma.

ABOVE: Devon & his father Stanley in bouncy castle

ABOVE: The whole family. Lisa, Stanley, Devon, and Veran.

Thanks for taking a look. Hopefully I can hit up Yosemite with you guys next time, if I'm in the area.

All shots taken with Canon 10d. All but the last shot were taken with 35mm F2 at F4.0, last shot taken with 85mm 1.8 USM at F8.0.

Cheers :rofl

It's been a while since I've looked at your work (bad me).

Alot of cool shots there, they convey the great energy & joy of the party.

Excellent work Daniel thumb.gifthumb.gif I'm sure the client is pleased as punch.

We missed all the folks that couldn't attend the Shootout. But as you posted, there's lots of us NorCal shooters who'd like nothing better than another get together. Ian, Dee, Ed, myself and some of the LA group would probably jump at the chance. Let us know :D

You've been on my list of local people I'd love to meet.

I'm just stunned at your birthday party images. I thought I'd be bored, ho hum, another birthday party -- these are photojournalistic to the nth degree! You certainly got great expressions -- including that watching TV gazed over look I see in my grandson all the time.

The family group is excellent, I'm sure that's a photo they will treasure for a long, long time.

You've come a long way since your first posts -- and you're not a photography major, heh?

    Wow.

Every time I go to a party, I think oh, snapshots. I'll take the cheapo point and shoot.

But your images are going to make me look at the next party differently. Thanks for posting your excellent visual insights!

Dee, it woudl be a pleasure to meet you this summer. I'll definitely be in Nor Cal, and my bro lives in San Francisco so I'm sure we can meet up! Are you a SF resident?

Nope, I am not studying photography at all at school... that's more of an independent thing. I'm actually a sociology major as of now!

Chewy, http://www.chewyphoto.com/photos/21558770-O.jpg < love the lighting on this one. You put to good use that little subdued tone trick. :) Are you still using your typical umbrella, reflector and 383 for some of these or are they all just from available light?

Shay, great to hear from you man! Remember when you made that funky light bounce thing for the Sony f717? We go way back... I remember toiling in my room to create some crazy mirror contraptions just to be able to bounce the light.

Good memories, good memories. Can't wait to catch up on some of your newer work!
