I like this one...but was wondering if it looked that purple when you took it? I think the white balance may need some tweaking.
In this edit all I did was use the white balance tool and selected the shadow area on the "white" tail feathers. Then increased contrast a tad and upped the sat on the golden color.
BTW...my wife said she liked yours better! Dumb blondes!

Thanks much Ric. I did it intentionally. Clearly not as realistic as yours, but I like to employ some artistic choice sometimes (like I did with the Stilts ). Obviously your wife, is the artist in the family, and you are the realist

Fair enough.
Sometimes (usually, in my experience) people just want a pat on the head and really don't care about another point of view based on other considerations. Can't learn much that way!
BTW the "sucks" reply on the Stilt was poking fun at your words not your image.

Well, I sincerely do appreciate your perspective and coaching. I have learned a lot from you
Nice set of shots. I prefer Ric's version of the coot but I'm famous for my lousy taste.

Thanks Stephen. How come you haven't been posting lately?

Oh man, just been busy. Work is keeping tied up at the moment. I haven't been able to get away and do as much photography as I would like. I actually have quite a bit of pictures from this summer that I still need to process, plus I have been taking some shots off and on around the house. However, I am still trying to plan my next get-away for some dedicated bird photography. Perhaps this Thanksgiving I can get myself somewhere. I will already be in the Austin area visiting relatives so maybe one of those days I can escape to the Texas Hill Country.
