Another Work in Progress

As I'm always working on the "artistic side", with both successes and failures, I thought I'd share some more for your viewing. Again, these are works in progress (or better stated), an experiment in looks, DOF, processing techniques. Some are for the fun of it...some I wish to convey a mood. I guess I'll simply title them by number and see if any grab you. All were shot with the 5D and 28-135 IS at f/5.6.

Very nice! clap.gif For me I like #1, 2 and 4. Can I ask what your lighting is to create the catch lights in #2. I absolutely love pictures of children with that kind of sparkle in their eyes! Adorable boy you have there, and seemingly willing to pose, great for you to practice!

    My guess is...
I guess that the catchlights are window light and fill flash...

I like 2-5, Dave. The PP on the last one I can see on some rag type paper. That grandson sure is a cutie pie and future heartthrob. You capture his personality well.

Thanks Sandy! These are lit using flash fill and window light. Fortunately, it was bright enough in the room to shoot ISO 100 w/bounced flash. Typically, I'll go ISO 400 (always on Manual Mode) and toggle the shutter based on how much ambient I want in the frame. He's my grandson and believe me, there are close to 10,000 shots of him from day 1.:D He's got his own gallery....hey, would you expect anything less from a photog? One thing for sure, he'll never say he doesn't have any photos of him when he was young...Laughing.gif

Hi Scott. Nope, not HDR. Actually a conversion to B&W of sorts then taken to PS for textures/overlays and some burnt edging. Wanted to do something completely different than my "usual" style. Thanks!

I as well love them all. I really like #1. Could you maybe go back into PS for that one though. It looks as though your little tough guy has a tiny greenish bruise under his right eye. Not a big deal, but if you were to print. ne_nau.gif

This is the best one for me. Classic, with mood. Nice/neutral background, and lots of tones. (I mean back and greys and white, all of them are here) Nice light, from the top. And it is a sharp picture as I always like, with detail.

It doesn't mean I don't like the others. It is that the last one is the one which pleases me more.iloveyou.gif
