Hi Y'all,

I went out to the ole wetlands and it was a rather quiet day. I decided to make a last loop around before heading home. As I was driving a Shadow passed over the ground so I stopped and got out and saw

and he was being followed

he really was being followed

after they left an osprey flew by

The show over I drove another minute and found a harrier

then I got a return visit

he landed and posed for a bit

he left when the blackbirds got uppity

I was glad I decided to make that last loop :D

Nice shots Harry. I really like the "bird on a stick" shot. I'd love to get a perch shot like that. Well done.

No eagles here in NC - beautiful creatures.

Wow Harry! I need to come visit you just for the "eagle on a stick" pictures. I never get tired of those pictures. The BIFs are extremely nice too. I am not sure how many people have the chance to photograph eagles and caracaras in the same frame.

I have been wondering if the birds down there know you are the Mod of the Wildlife Forum on Dgrin and pose for you with hopes of getting their picture seen worldwide? I had no luck yesterday

Thanks, the eagles have been posing on that same stick for as long as I ahve been down here (2004). I have so many now captures of them on that stick I usually pass on them now or wait for a chance at a flight shot.

I'm so jealous. We have eagles here in Ohio (a few anyway), but they're so hard to capture, especially if you don't have major glass. But, I love to watch them. They are so grand.

Thanks Stephen and every shooter should get down to Florida. Getting caracaras and eagles together at the same time doesn't happen often. I was very, very lucky.

Thanks the last three show the difference lighting can make. The preceding images were mostly backlit captures and I had the sun at my back for the last three images.

Those are crested caracaras, aka the Mexican Eagle. They are members of the falcon family.
