I am thinking of building a darkroom, do you think it would be worth it? i am confident i could do it for under $300, if i go used which i am going to do because i have a budget of a 17yr old. I sorta placed my feelings about this in your other thread....I loved my darkroom but hated the stench of chemicals ( iahve a very sensitive olfactory system) and the frustration that the EPA has on the dumping of those chemicals down our drains.....

However I do have a never used KREONITE 4 foot sink .... it is just like brand new....it was never drilled for the drain.....$50 + s/h and it is yours.... ican lift it with one hand but it will be an oversized shipment by UPS and no idea what it may cost to ship it.....Kreonite was a major manufacturer of darkroom equipment and may still be.....

The 23C was a fantastic b/w enlarger.....strickly b/w unless it has a filter tray built in to add filtration for color and also for contrast filters for b/w.
I do not under stand the term paper holds (maybe and east coast thingne_nau.gif).....as far as 125 for it seems okay.....however I would seriously be looking for a DICHROIC enlarger (built in glass filters in varing degress of magenta, cyan and yellow for doing color or adding contrast for b/w.........

if it is too much trouble for this person to give accurate descriptions or go thru the boxes I would shy away from them....I get bad feelings about people selling this way......but it really couldn't hurt to go look at it.

as far as setting up a darkroom.....well that is a matter of personal choice....it very well could be that if you set one up and start on that magical journey that you will fall so deeply in love with it that you will never want to shoot digital for any reason..........it has happened.

I had a 23c and I used it for B&W only, but that's all I was shooting at the time. If I remember correctly it had the ability to do color with some adapters. Nothing fancy but I was able to learn the developing process very well with it. Plus it looks like they are throwing in a whole darkroom and then some. I think I remember paying almost double what they're asking for and that was back in the late 80's and it was a pretty similar setup and I still use some of it on occasion, minus the enlarger (I've got a negative scanner so I can print them instead).

    Going back in technology...
I have been a photographer for over fifty years and as a Navy Photographer originally mixed chemicals from scratch ingredients rather than just adding water to premixed chemicals. I worked with all types of printers, enlargers, papers, developers and automatic processing equipment.

I love the freedom and creativity that my digital photography allows. I would not step back into those dark ages and would probably give up photography if that were the only way to get an image. In fact, I recently cleaned out a corner of a large storage building and gave away an entire darkroom setup including an enlarger.
