Hello Everybody
I try very hard to keywork my photos and I have ticked the box in each gallery to say that I would like Google to search my site.
I have a Standard option site.
But my photos still fail to show up in a Google Image search.
Why is this? I see lots of Flickr images in a search.
How can I rectify this?
Thanks in advance

Lesley

I think it's unlikely for your images to come up on the google image search based on keywords (or anything else on your smugmug site). Google uses certain criteria to determine what keywords to associate with an image. That includes the filename of the image and the text adjacent to it (in the html code). Smugmug pages look great, but they aren't very search engine friendly... especially for google image searches.

Then again, google is constantly changing their search algorithms. Maybe they'll get better at finding applicable images.

    Thanks Dave
That's disappointing and seems rather pointless having an option for Google to search an album.

    Have a nice day

I think I can say from experience that Google loves the captions under the photo. I get lots of hits from them.

Do the best you can to put in meaningful captions.

Google web search ... I get zero results on image search. I think Google Image Search is blind to SmugMug images ne_nau.gif .

You'll get some SEO from Smugmug, but not as good as some other sites. IE: The title and meta info doesn't change from page to page, lots of ajax that makes it harder to crawl. This is why you'll see other sites come up more often and quicker.
