I'm too lazy to drive all the way to the cape. This is about a mile from the house, shot from the side of the road.

I got a little spooked - something swam by as I was shooting that. It didn't look like a 'gator but it sure wasn't a fish!
Amazing. Absolutely stunning and unreal!
Sometimes it pays to be lazy?

What a great moment, it must be an awe inspiring sight, and to capture it as you have, makes it even better.

[edit] After looking closer, I was wondering about the dimming, then re-brightening of the arc. The 3 main engines are throttled back after a bit to ease stresses and then are cranked up again after the danger passes. (If you've watched launches on TV you've heard the call from Houston "Go at throttle-up"). I never thought you could visually see the difference though. If that's what it is, that's doubly cool!

in fact, i'd be willing to bet that you could sell this to nasa or one of the astronauts for a pretty penny. really cool shot.
