SOLD: Nikon 28-70 f2.8 aka the "Beast"

Up for sale is a beautiful Nikon 28-70 f2.8 aka the "beast".
I bought this lens on FM about a month ago to be used at a special occasion. It has since served its purpose, so up for sale it goes.

The lens is immaculate, and comes complete with hardcase, hood, and box.

I'm fairly new here on the DG, but have excellent history on FM, and NikonCafe under the same name.

    Tony... so I presume you're the 2nd owner? ...or the 3rd? ...or...?
    Any thoughts on how old this copy is?
    What size filters does this lens take?

    I purchased this lens from a fellow member at FM's about a month ago. He claimed to have purchased this new in 2006.
    The lens look as new, with no noticeable signs of wear, and the glass is spotless. Even the hood looks new.

    The filter size is 77mm.

    Here's a sample snapshot taken @ f2.8 (reduced and resized for the web)

    Not too sure if this picture helps. (I can do 100% crop if needed)

    You should!! It's awesome. I thought I got a good deal on mine at $960. $899 is a steal. Lately on Ebay they've been going for average of $1100 for decent copies.

    I took mine to a party the other night at club. Was fine and that's on my D300. It may get a bit heavy if you were say doing some serious hiking but that kind of stuff doesn't bother me too much.

    BTW, I also have a BlackRapid strap so I think that may help a bit since it has a nice, wide padded strap which you wear across your shoulder not around your neck. You may want to look into getting one.
