after following bobs thread decided to have a go, i usually merge with layer masks.
this shot was taken with a 12mp compact! couldnt be bothered setting up tripod & slr that day! hence no good detail in foreground grasses.
only file i could find with 3 exposures to test on.

I do think there is a lack of high-end (levels) though, which you can fix with PS.
I hope you don't mind, but I simply took it into PS3 and helped the middle and upper levels a bit.
I'm sure this isn't an ideal balance for you, but I think if you optimize your image for levels first, then color you'll be very pleased!

i think christians version reduces the impact of light in the bottom of the valley.the brighter grasses in foreground look better but the compact has produced no sharpness to them.
1st go with photomatrix, no idea on settings just pressed go!
