Really wonderful stuff for this round, guys! clap.gif As always, judging itself was a challenge. Sean and I agreed on 6 images, giving you all 14 to choose from. The top 5 from this round will be qualified to play in the currently running DSS Mega-Challenge #2. :barb

    Oh my gosh!! Thank you so much for including my image in the judging round! I am shocked.. but very excited! I'm like a little child, I had to call my husband right away "I made it to the judging round"! Anyway, to be included with all of these superb images is a great feeling. Congratulations to all of the finalists! And thank you to Emily and Sean. Emily, all that you do to keep these challenges moving in a positive direction is awesome! Good luck everyone!

    Wow - thanks!! wings.gif It was only by chance that I was able to photograph that silly tooth sculpture as I wound up doing some last-minute travelling during the challenge period. As always, the process of preparing an image for one of these challenges has taught me SO MUCH (I didn't even know what cross-processing WAS before messing with this shot), and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to learn by doing. Thanks for bearing with my fledgling efforts! And I will say that this experience has brought home the fact that if I'm going to keep doing this I *really* need something wider than 28mm...rolleyes1.gif

    Congrats to everybody - there were a LOT of really interesting images this round!

    It's never easy to pick just one in these challenges given the high level of quality and creativity of the entries. This time it seemed even harder. Congratulations to all of the entrants and to the finalists. All I can say is WOW! Massively magnificent.

    It's taken me all morning to cast a vote - I feel guilty for having to exclude images that I LOVED! :cry (now I know how those casting agents feel when they have 5 equally qualified applicants and I won't take it so personally when they don't cast me!! Well, maybe ;)

    After pondering on my top three from this round,
    this was the one that won out for me, I thought the idea was unique,
    loved it in B&W and I think it just had more of an emotional impact on me...Congrats!

    Ahhh...warm fuzzies...what a wonderful thing to wake up to this morning...its snowing in NC and that is one of my favorite things to begin any day with!...but then I find this on my favorite site...and this is just icing on the cake. wings.gif

    I can't thank you all enough for voting for this picture it means a great deal to me and am humbled by your selection. I appreciate all the great feed back you have provided. I was not sure if this shot was going to do anything as it appeared the feed back had some mixed reactions to it ~ and perhaps it grew on others in the way Sean described in his very thoughtful feedback. In the end I am thrilled to have been selected! I know it was a tough decision to make as there where many great shots in here, any of which could have been in 1st place. Thank you to Emily for your tireless effort you have put into this wonderful challenge! It is difficult enough to shoot these rounds, I can only imagine how difficult it is to run it week after week. I really appreciate you keeping this thing going it really is fun to do and a great learning experience for anyone who jumps in.

    Speaking of jumping in...I now need to go find my favorite place!...in the SNOW!

    Congratulations to Cmurph on a really cool shot and well deserved result! I think that your shot could work quite well for "my favorite place" too!

    Thanks to everyone who supported my entry and especially thanks to everyone who took the time to leave feedback in the gallery...it was great to read about your reactions to my little editorial image. I really enjoyed the process of creating it from initial concept to final. I'm tickled with how it turned out.

    My neighbors are probably ready to have me involuntarily committed after seeing me standing out in the middle of the street in front of my house early on a Saturday morning dressed in a business suit and striking odd poses for a camera on a tripod...then taking pictures of the sky.
