Tried "live view" for the first time on my 40D. I didnt like it so I shut it back off.
Camera did 8 frames while at a client shoot and went directly to "error 99"
Yummy.:clap
8 months old..........kinda sucks. I sent it off to Canon for repair, hope to get it back next week sometime.
Great camera though.....I love it.........but I wont use Live View anymore
Stuff happens......it will get fixed.
You guys ever have this happen? so far I have seen two 50D's that went into error 99 after live view. They were sent in and had a firmware update and work great now.........hopefully that same firmware update will work on my 40D.
Anyway....

Good luck and hoping for a speedy repair.
I've not had any problems with my 40D and I use the Live View fairly frequently to check focus on tripod shots.

I set the 40d on a tripod and we went to town.
Togleing between live view and info sped up the learning. I think some really "got it" this time. I had everyone shooting manual, and liking it, by the end of the day.
I am using the 50D now, still use Live View a bit, haven't had any problems with it yet either.
But yes, there is a firmware update on Canon's website for both the 40D and 50D. I haven't downloaded it yet, but will be soon. It's a fix for the err99. So Might want to check that out those who haven't downloaded it yet.
