Here are my pickins for this afternoon at the Hunter River Estuary.
1. Red-necked Avocets - these are locals
2. Eastern Curlews - visitors from Siberia
3. Eastern Curlews
4. Bar-tailed Godwits ( i think) - these doods come from Siberia or Alaska

The red-necked avocets are a local bird that migrate between the coast and inland waterways. They sift through the shallow water for food with their upturned beaks.
