Canon 70-200 f/2.8 non-IS Tripod Collar

I have an opportunity to buy a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 for a fairly decent price, but it doesn't have with the tripod collar. Can these be found for a reasonable price? Because this comes with the lens OOB, I'm not finding a whole lot of them on eBay, etc. Any thoughts?

I've also read somewhere that the collar for the MP-E 65 will work as well - can anyone confirm this?

Thanks,
D8

    Canon customer support is at:

    1-800-828-4040

You are looking for part: Canon, Tripod Mount Ring B(W)

The Ring B(B) is for the EF 100 f/2.8, Macro USM, MP-E65 f/2.8, EF 180 f/3.5L Macro USM and may or may not fit properly. I believe that the diameter is OK but that the width may be a problem. Some people report that the B(B) does not move smoothly on the 70-200mm, f2.8 and 100-400 lenses.

Since the ring supports both the lens and the camera, I strongly suggest using the genuine Canon part, even though it is pretty expensive.

Or buy my f/2.8 IS. It has a ring collar already. :)
