Speaking of bags: is there a "correct" way to pack one?

By which I mean: is there a preferred/recommended way to stow gear, ie camera on its back, lens down, lens up, lens logitudinally etc etc. Just wondering...

Just be careful not to rest too much weight on the lens. If you place the camera/lens in a bag lens first, the weight from the camera may cause damage to the lens over time or if the bag is dropped. Likewise, if you place the combination in the bag camera first, try not to lift the combination by the lens.

The very best way, for storage or transport, is to detach any lens from the body and place them separately. This isn't very convenient for actual usage however.
