I went to the Viera Wetlands yesterday rather late in the morning, but as soon as I arrived at the parking lot I noted things were changing there. I saw about 20 Killdeer near the ramp to the wetlands, and that's something I have not seen for a while now.

There were several other indications that the action from the bird migrants is about to get hot.........

Upon reaching the dike road at the top of the ramp, I saw two pair of Hooded Mergansers, the first I have seen this season....

The Blue Winged Teal are increasing in numbers.......

Coots are everywhere....

And, the Great Blue Herons are showing breeding colors

Excellent sey Ira. The action at Viera is definitely picking up of late.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Wonderful shots, Ira! clap.gif

I've only seen Hooded Mergansers once by me, never knew what they were called.

That's a nice look at the breeding plumage on the GBH, something I've never viewed outside of images.
Good to know that place is bouncing back.

The hoodies sure are handsome ducks and the great blue heron images are some of the best I have seen in a while. Rich, vibrant color in those heron images.
