Cool link Andy I've seen quite a few things at those types of magnification on the net,
most of us would probably never get to see such things if it was not for modern technology and the ability to surf the internet .... Skippy

Back a few years ago I had a job where I got to operate a scanning electron
microscope, so I have had the great pleasure of creating images at these
fantastic magnifications. Of course, they were mostly of small parts of
computer tape drive read/write heads which are pretty dull items visually.
Every now and then we would capture an insect and have some
fun looking at it. Looking back I wish I had kept a few prints but I didn't,
I was in R&D so they frowned on information going out the door.
Once you learn all the adjustments (and there are a lot) they are fairly
easy to operate, until you get to high magnifications, then they are
very sensitive to almost anything. The DOF is fantastic. All the output
images are B&W, not that color has any meaning when the structures are
smaller than the wavelength of light.
