Hey folks! This is my first post here. I frequent DPreviews but have never dropped by this neck of the woods; I look forward to meeting you all! I've made a similar post on DPreview, but I wanted to share with my fellow Smugmuggers:
I met some amazing people today: Chaitanya (father), Monique (mother), and Soleil (daughter). You may recognize them if you went shopping this week on Library Walk - they run a storefront that sells Asian clothes, fabrics, and figurines. This family left me breathless; they are quite simply amazing people - friendly, polite, laid-back, but also foreign and exotic to a Cali boy like myself.
Each year, they travel to Nepal and live with the Nepalese during their stay. When they are done, they import goods from Nepal and sell them in America; I imagine it's a busy life!
The first thing I noticed about them is that they are a very happy family compared to the more wealthy families I grew up with in Palo Alto. People keep telling me that I don't need a lot of money to be happy; meeting this family really drilled the message home. They have everything that they need in one another.
It was a pleasure taking photographs of this family... they are really terrific people and I wish them the best in their business.
I look forward to getting to know you all better!
