Birds in Santa Barbara

Last week I was in Santa Barbara for Marc's Muench Print II. If you have never been or participated in a class with Marc, I suggest you try to work it into your schedule. Marc hands down is one of the better instructors I have ever met. Ok, enough of the sells pitch for Marc and back to the story.

While Marc took us on a sunrise photowalk at UCSB, we walked by a slough lagoon that was full of birds. At that moment I promised myself I would return next morning to try and capture some of diverse birds hanging out in this gorgeous lagoon in the middle of the UC Santa Barbara Campus.

First a few Egret shots

Excellent set. thumb.gif I would have steped down the exposure a 1/3rd of a stop on the egret captures.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

On the fifth dive, I finally got a picture that was somewhat in focus and with the pelican just entering the water. Sometimes luck just falls the way we wantclap.gif

Thank you. The wind died down for long enough to get the shot.

Fantastic set! Wow. The snowy egrets are perfectly exposed for. And I do not know how you timed that brown pelican dive. thumb.gif I've tried for years and can't get it right. You nailed that dive!
