Customized domain much slower in Firefox

When accessed via http://photos.linquist.net in Firefox (3.x), Smugmug is *considerably slower* than when accessed through http://klinquist.smugmug.com. It isn't the initial DNS lookup. I can ping both and get the same results... but sometimes I have to wait 30+ seconds for a page to come up when accessed through my customized host! Any ideas? I have it set as a CNAME to domains.smugmug.com...
This problem exists on both the Mac and PC... but only in Firefox it seems. When I use Safari (which I don't like to do), it's fine.
Both copies of Firefox (Mac and PC) are using a copy of the same profile. Maybe I've got some advanced customized settings causing problems (referrers are disabled, for example). I'll play with that, in the mean time, any other ideas? Can someone else with Firefox try it out?

This could be because Smugmug's advanced caching of images at the edge of the internet (through Akamai) is not yet enabled for custom domains. The further away from Smugmug's data centers, the more of a difference the Akamai caching makes. I think they are still planning on making it work for custom domains, but I don't know when.
