Hi,

I have a good friend with a EOS 400D and the 18-55mm lens. We can't get the auto to manual focus selector switch to move. It seems to be stuck on autofocus. Is there some sort of trick to moving this switch to Manual Focus??? I'm a Nikon user so I don't know much about this lens. It would seem pretty obvious how to use this selector switch....but it sure won't move at all. I tried to put a pretty good amount of pressure on it and it didn't budge. I was afraid of breaking it.

Has anyone else had this problem? Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks

The switch on one of my copies (version 1) moves pretty easily. Have you tried also moving the focus ring (with the lens off the camera and don't try to move the focus ring too much or too quickly.)

We did move the focusing ring on the very front of the lens (while on the camera though) and that moves just fine. That part seemed normal to me. It's just the manual/auto focus switch that seems frozen for some reason.
