Can anyone help me I.D these guys?

I think thy are a fly. Other half says mosquito. I don't think they are. They sit on the leaves of a shady tree in my yard, not doing much at all.

yip, long-legged fly.
I have been seeing heaps of them lately..

There are also some larger ones as well, which I haven't gotten a good shot of yet. I can't tell if they are a different species or if they are the females.


Is it blatantly obvious that I know zip about entomology?:giggle

Nice ones - you'll learn- these are one of the few flies I can IF with some certainty

I think I have a shot of one of those in 'our back yard animals' on 'other cool shots'
they are too big to be mosquito ( I think)
