I have been slowly building my business and folio but I am ready to dive in head first. My thought is that I need more strict training and education.
I know there are schools that offer Certificate in Pro Protography and Advanced Certificates.
Are these programs worth the time and money or would I be better off hitting as many clinics and workshops as possible?
I wasn't sure where to post this topic and question so if any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
I would also like to hear from people who have gone thru these programs and let me know what you think.
THanks for the input!

Hi there,
I looked over your Online Homepage and like it and your photos.
It is time for a self assessment. You need to decide what kind of learner you are. Are you more into theory and the genesis of information and how that information is manifested? And so on.
I look forward to following this thread to see how folks who have had formal training respond.
I am highly auto didactic. Though I enjoy theory. I also know theory
doesn't inspire me. Art always inspires me more. There are so many funnels of info now a days as you well know. So at least you have choices. But, this all falls back on your self assessment, not mine or others. Also it would seem that workshops and clinics would have more working photographers teaching, hence a more viable hand on the current pulse of your chosen profession.
I know I am beyond an intermediate art student, and my struggle is to learn to utilize the instruments of photography and have them coalesce with my art-sense into one. That self assessment is my key. How I go about it, a choice.
Cheers, tom
I don't think certificates in photography means much in and of themselves.
Take hands on workshops in whatever field you are going into.
Also, be sure to take some business courses, because no matter how great you are at taking photos, you won't be able to make a living at it unless you know how to run your business.
Good luck!
