Caroline - Autumn
This is my first serious attempt at portraits so all CC are welcome.
my attempt at an infrared look:
All were shot with a nikon d300 with 2 off camera speedlights sb-600 and sb-800, 24-85mm 2.8-4, 70-200 2.8, 50mm 1.4
I'm a graphic designer by trade, and I just started getting into photography over the last year after studying all the shots from professionals that I work with. I've still got a lot to learn about photography, but please dont hesitate to get technical, as I'm a quick learner.

Looks like the years of studying shots from professionals paid off. Atleast you know what looks right. As for some of your shots, they look a bit out of focus to me, or maybe it's just my monitor at work. But you have a wonderful model and some pretty sweet ideas. Love the HDR type black and white. My favorite of the set.
Nikon Shooter
It's all about the moment...
One thing I notice though is that the way the model is positioning her arm up by her head looks a bit forced in a couple of them. To me it looks fine in the first b/w shot (my favourite of the set) but in the second b/w and the final colour shot where she is doing a similar thing with her arm it looks a bit uncomfortable...like she is scratching an itchy head!!
But that's a small issue to take with what is a very impressive start to your photographic endeavours!
Trevlan - I see your point about some being soft the fourth shot was shot at f5 with a long lens, i guess i should have stopped it down a bit to beat that.
Cerpintor - Well, it was not only my first time shooting/directing but also her first time modeling so it was def a learning experience for both of us. Funny that the one you liked the most was towards the end of the shoot when she got more comfortable in front of the camera.
Thanks for the crits guys and please keep 'em coming!
