Generally there is a biweekly (every 2 weeks) contest going on. That is the DSS (digital sharp shooters). There is one going on right now (round 13). there are no restrictions on entering that one (besides following entry rules). That is the one you would enter now. MC2 is the megachallenge which is restricted to contestants who have qualified in earlier DSS challenges.

From the rules: Once, roughly every quarter, the top 5 winners from each round will be eligible to play in a themed Mega-Challenge. This Mega-Challenge will be judged by a panel to determine the winner. At the same time, the first round for the next quarter will begin, and ONLY non-Mega-Challenge players may compete in this round.

Exactly. The numbered rounds are open to anybody and also act as qualifying rounds for the Megachallenges (the top 5 from each numbered round qualify for the MC); the Megachallenge rounds are open ONLY to people who have qualified, and those people are not eligible for the numbered round which is running at the same time as the Megachallenge.

    Hth!

Wow that was fast.I love u guys...Right on...
I have read the rules...Thank u for sending me that link...I have no problem with rules.....But i do have a question...Should the camera insert EXIF automaticaly into shot and will display it? I read about exif, i never fool around with it...but have noticed when i open in PS in file info doesnt show....so i dont know if anything is wrong...but usualy it does show..Or do i need to do something manualy?

I travel a lots, not sure if i am able to match FRESH shots with theme...but i will try...This is now clear to me and easy to understand..excepet for EXIF info...Because i dont wanna something to happen to exif while i have matched theme and fresh image and not being able to enter......
.....i beleive some people would give up because its so much to understand mangled together.about how to enter .. ..But your answer is clear and to the point..clap.gif

    Thank u much

every digital camera will save the EXIF which you can read about here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchangeable_image_file_format). Essentially it's just some extra information that's saved with the image file about the setting of the camera when the image was taken, such as shutter speed, aperture, date taken, etc.

The rules require the exif to be linked in your entry. most image hosting sites such as smugmug.com (not free, dgrin is a forum powered by smugmug), or photobucket.com (free) offer a way to show exif of an image stored on the site. we link to that so that dates can be verified (this of course can be faked, but we work on an honors system here). There are already links that show how to do this if you use smugmug (most people here do), but here is the instructions on how to do it with photobucket

    Create an account on http://photobucket.com/

Once you create an account and upload your image, click on it.

    1. Copy the 4th image link code (IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards) and paste it into your entry (you can edit this by clicking edit on your post)

    2. Copy the address of the page you are on, and link it into the post as well. The exif is on the right & bottom in section "Image Info".

I see from your profile that you have a smugmug site. In that case, adding your photo to an entry thread and linking to your exif is simple. mwink.gif Instructions can be found here:

I'll add a word about the third kind - the Mini Challenges. Round 15 just closed and 16 should open in a day or two.

The minis are completely unofficial, the prize is just bragging rights and getting to run the next round with your own theme. Different, much more relaxed rules too.

Check out the "links to everything" stickies at the top, those will have most anything answered thumb.gif
