Would these be considered Still Life?

I'm starting to play around with Still Life. I'm not too sure if these would fit the theme.
This is a new learning experience for me. I have never really done still life before.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Not quite.

As per the following site, still life photography "is the photography of inanimate objects purposefully arranged and lit."

The first photo is lovely and would make a great greeting card but it doesn't quite match the theme, IMO.

The second photo has an inanimate object in it that's been purposefully left in that location, but I know you can do better.

Another good description of still life photography is on Wikipedia:

"Still life photography is a demanding art, one in which the photographers are expected to be able to form their work with a refined sense of lighting, coupled with compositional skills. The still life photographer makes pictures rather than takes them. Knowing where to look for propping and surfaces also is a required skill."

You said you were mostly an outside photographer...

I really don't think that a still life image has to be made only inside...
