Why are we missing thumbs?

Why are we missing thumbs now? I see this several times a day now. I don't recall seeing it months ago before the Akamai change, though that could just be a coincidence.

Environment is Vista SP1, Firefox 2, gobs of memory, fast processor, fast DSL connection.

    John,

I don't see this happening on my computer. Didn't a refresh fix it? Did you try to click on the thumb to see if the larger version loads?

Did you see it happen on any other page or just your homepage?

Let us know if it happens again.

I've been seeing this recently too. It happens in some galleries, not others, doesn't appear to be consistent. I've seen it on my site and on other smug sites too.

If I go back later, everything looks fine. So it appears to be an intermittent problem.

I've seen it 10-15 times in the last week. It's random which thumb. It does load the larger image when I click on it. I don't usually bother to hit refresh, but it isn't a persistent problem with that thumb if that's what you're wondering. It happens on any page with thumbs, not just the homepage. Loading thumbs is just not as reliable anymore as it used to be.

Ive seen this a lot too with galleries associated with communities...when searching for pictures on smugmug's keyword search. Not sure if this is related or not.
