Pinnacles Photo Shoot

Ehuhges, and Steve Cavigliano, and I were discussing taking a ride over to The Pinnacles National Monument for a photo get together, and we thought others might like to join us, so I am making this post to see who has an interest. If there is an interest I can go down and scout out several photo sites and itineraries, based on ones ability or desire to hike. From there we can set a date and start planning.

The Pinnacles are located about 80 miles south of San Jose California on Hwy 25. I think they released a pair condors here last year, and there are hawks, turkey buzzards, owls, bobcats mountain loins, snakes, and other animals here

The landscape is varied with spectacular spires, rocky crags and vast vistas. The difference between the Pinnacles and the surrounding area is strikingly apparent and are rocky remains of an ancient volcano located 195 miles to the southeast.

I will be posting a number of photos to give you an idea of what you can expect. These were taken last year. They are not good! They were not intended to be good…….Well ok I intended them at the time to be good, but they ain’t. I can press the camera button better now.

Let me know if you have an interest.

Sam

A half mile from the parking area we get to Bear Gulch Reservoir.

A little further up the trail we have another view of the reservoir (That little blue spot), and a good overview of the area.

Not the same as the tunnel view in Yosemite, but more intimate.

    Dee,

I have been there about 4 times over the years, and I am no expert, but if there is an interest I will go down and scout out the area to locate good photo opps for those who don't want to hike.

I will try to ensure this is worthwhile trip for everybody, long hike, short hike, no hike.

Are we shooting since Friday morning, or we getting there on Firday (evening) and shooting Saturday? I mean - do I need to take Friday off?ne_nau.gif

My plans are to come with my 13 y.o. daughter (who loves camping, hiking and photography) and camp out a couple of nights..

    Nik,
I think we are shooting on Friday. I'm pretty sure Andy's plane leaves at around 9pm from San Jose. So if we get there early (like when the park opens, 8am??), we can have a full day of shooting.

If I am mistaken, than someone please correct me.

Hey Sam, will there be places to eat nearby? I know how Andy gets when he misses a meal eek7.gif I wouldn't want this to turn into the Donner Party :lol4

There is a very interesting bar resturant down the road apiece, I don't remember just how far the apiece is, but I'll find out and report back. :D

Also the last time I was there I got in before dawn. Again I plan on going down and getting all the current details first hand.
