Possible CF card problem...or my camera?

Hi. I hope this is in the right place, if not, please advise.

I have a canon digital rebel 6.3mp camera. Had some issues with it this summer but it was repaired and seemed to be working fine. Right before the issues this summer though, I noticed that when I imported photos from my CF card to the computer, some images were half gray or double exposure looking.

It seems to me, that would be a problem with the CF card, which I can understand and easily correct with a replacement. I currently use Kingston 2GB high performance card.

I noticed again for the first time that this happened with some photos I took yesterday. I have included a few of the pics to give idea of what I am referring to. Thankfully, I have a card recovery program and was able to easily get the corrected image off my card (and the photos were only of my decorations, nothing major) but with the holidays coming I don't want to take a chance my camera fails on me.

Can anyone tell me if they think this is a card problem or a camera problem? My thought was it could just be coincidence the last time but if it could be my camera, I want to take it in asap so I have it by the holiday.

Thanks!

If your recovery program managed to get good versions, then it is probably not your camera. You didn't mention how you downloaded the pics. Was it from the camera or from a card reader? Your camera still might have a problem if you downloaded directly from it. More likely it is the card itself, the card reader or the cable you used to connect to the computer. If you can, try changing each of these one at a time to isolate the problem.

It's more than likely a card problem. I had similar things happen to me once using Delkin cards - they were brand new, and I took them back. I use Lexar professional cards now and have for years, and I haven't had a problem.

    Thanks.

I download the cards by using a card reader in my laptop. I will do as suggested and trying changing the way I download to be sure it is the card.

Thanks for the input, I think its the card too b/c I am able to get the images with the card recovery but since this happened right before the last time my canon rebel just decided to stop taking photos, I thought I would get feedback. I don't want to be without camera for the holidays. It was bad enough going without it for two weeks last time when I really needed it for my niece's pagent. I have a backup point and shoot but its just not the same:)

Thanks for the info and input!

MY S/O had this exact problem earlier this year when she downloaded some photos on her sons computer. Using the recovery program we managed to recover some photos...the rest looked exactly as these do. The computer probably reformatted HER card. We tossed her card post recovery.

toss the card: Just in case~

    cheers, tom

    Post edit: Nice art though~

I have experienced exactly the same problem and in my case it was the card.

Best advice is above, throw the card away. They are not much money these days, it simply not worth the risk.
