Sony HVL F32x external battery power!!!
more power for the HVL F32x Sony F828 flash unit - finally! reduced cycle times
after much consternation & disappointment with the recharge times I finally figured out how to PUMP UP THE VOLUME - its quick & simple, not to mention inexpensive, heck downright CHEAP
8-10 seconds to recharge < never again, how about 1-2 seconds? yeah!
pick up some hot glue gun sticks, a couple of #8 x 3/4" wood screws, and a 6 volt sealed lead acid (actually gel) battery - mine's 7.0 Ah (amps, not milliamps) - the performance of the flash now exceeds my 80x write speed compact flash in JPEG mode - that's right - the flash cycles almost as fast as you can depress the shutter button! - no need to trim the glue sticks...
no more disappointing missed underexposed shots, I thought that the 2,400 Mah NiMH AA batteries were going to do the trick - nah 4 x 1.2v == 4.8v, not the full 6 volts it takes to pump some serious current into this flash unit
yes, this flash unit met its master last year... bummer on the hotshoe!
finally - an alternative to bustin' the bank for a Cannon 20d/580ex speedlight
