Saturday Tease: Miriam
Well, I did make it to Dgrin party.. The "make it" part included waking up at 1:30am and driving for almost 400 miles at 85mph through the thickest fog covering pretty much all hwy 5 but, heck, we made it, so that was the part of the fun.. :wink
After a nice breakfast at Alameda's Ole Waffle Shop we we met our model, Miriam. 1.3 miles of a nice hike later we arrived at the designated shooting location. At first it was just Ann and me (well, my Helen was absolutely indispensable, too:-), but later we were joined by April, Christina and Debbie - and they knew better to arrive precisely when we were all got tired of shooting clothed and started to shoot full nude ...:rofl
Below are few setup shots.
1. Our Base Camp and first stage. Miriam (up front) is getting warmed up. Ann (back by the wall) is checking if her brand spanking new PW is compatible with my flashes ;-):
2. Miriam is flexing up by the rail:
3. And by gosh, she *is* flexible:
4: "Square" shot. Ann's shooting, Helen's assisting, Miriam's suffering, I'm observing:
5. "It takes two, baby!". SF was spoiling us with a bright sunny day. Overpowering California sun is no joke, so I set both my sunpacks to work in tandem:
6. Starting to work on graffity section. Ann is ready to fire, Helen is operating the reflector:
7. "The other" rooftop shot ;-) My famous orange chiffon comes to play:
8: Last look. Time is running out, all bets are off, everyone's just shooting to catch the last glimpse:
Enjoy! Giving I have three other shoots to process first, I bet the ladies will come with the final results from this shoot first :wink

That's some serious lighting setups!
Kirby Cove is really cool. I will love to see what the final results are.
There's another smaller battery that's less of a hike with some
interesting graffiti, a little creepy and lots of broken glass.
After the first bend in the road to Kirby Cove from Conzelman Rd,
look for a road that veers to the left.

thank you!
I knew of the second (smaller) battery, we saw it both on satellite image and IRL, and it is in fact a much lesser hike. However, I do tend to go to less reachable locations to avoid the onlookers (and occasional authorities:-). It worked this time, too: despite the beautiful weather there was only a couple of visitors during the whole 4 hours of hour shoot (and no rangers :-)
Other than that - it's an awesome location! Highly recommended.
THis location really was perfect! So much variety, and some pretty cool stuff too. Just getting my files onto the mac, will post some soon I hope!
Thank you Jedi master, for the opportunity to do something so unique!

Miriam's pink bag, tripod, lights, cameras.... Nik carries it all!
1.3 miles uphill!
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos when you get through your other batches of things to edit!

1) BDUs/fatigues have tons of pockets, very handy when you shooting
2) you're not afraid to get them dirty, so you find it easier to lie down
3) they provide a decent wind protection (and it was wiiiiiiiindy)
4) most of the models (and chicks in general) dig the military uniform, helps to establish the quick rapport :-)
5) last but not least - they *may* help in the unlucky coincidence when you get some issues with the authorities...
