Bosque del Apache Sunrise

Bosque is on the Rio Grande River in New Mexico and I was there this weekend. I'm not sure whether shots like this are landscape or wildlife, so I'm posting non-duplicate samples in both forums.

Shot at pre-dawn, freezing at 23F, and I have never seen a sky so red. This is just how the scene looked, with only very slight adjustments in CS-3 for presentation without materially affecting the colors in the shot.

Boy this one really jumped out at me! What color!!! Looking forward to seeing more. Did you use a tripod and how long did it take you to get this shot before they flew off?

Eia, from looking at the EXIF data, I see that sunrise was shot 45 minutes before blast-off.


I'm not sure I used a tripod (I was switching back and forth between two bodies), because I see I shot that at ISO800, 1/200s. So it could have been hand-held.

Bosque is just a great place, and sunrise shots are only one of the reasons.

Daniel, thanks. I drove and it takes around 6 1/2 hours, depending on stops. I took I40 to Holbrook and worked my way on secondary highways to highway 60. Passed through St Johns along the way. It's a very cool drive.
