What I see as symbolic:
The season it was shot in. Great choice to capture in winter.
The dried out dead grey grass
The fallen leaves,
The dirt smeared on the tombstone
The appearance of the frost on the grass
The tattered flag.
All these elements in this photo make it really good as opposed to just a shot of a headstone. you took a very basic scene and made it very compelling
Very well seen and captured, this image has a lot of heart in it.
Kindest Regards,

I don't seem to stumble upon this mixture very often. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

My initial goal was to take some pictures with my new 5DMkll
It was cold & very windy. I wasn't going to stay long, but as I was walking back to my car I caught sight of this scene. It just struck me as a very reverent patriotic image. The soldier had indeed looked out for the American Flag during World War ll. Now, many years later, this flag is standing vigilant, looking over this soldier. Kind of moving.
Thanks for your thought out post.
Thanks Craig,
I'm glad it came across.
