Indeed they are, Daniel. I with I could answer your question, but I can't. They were a very long way off, and those are heavy crops. There may be some long lens distance compression going on which makes the coyotes appear closer to the birds than they really are. I watched this scene until it got too dark to see them any more, and never did see anything happen. It's a mystery to me.
