    Thanks, guys!

No, I'm not still there. Wish I was. It was just a weekend trip.

I'm hurrying to get all my pictures posted before Harry and Russ (Riddim_Maker) get back and make my pictures look pitiful. :cry

    Cheers,

Outstanding captures Joel. clap.gif I'm packing right now and will be heading home with around 5,000 images to process. What an incredible place! #5 does an excellent job capturing the feel of the snow geese taking off.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

That last is amazing. Great candidate for black and white large print

Hi Joel --- These are really great shots, very nice, both the close-ups and habitat shots.

I just got back from your favorite place, the Salton Sea, but there was no way I could get as close to the snow geese (or any other birds) there as you did at Bosque. I even dressed up in one of those porto-blinds. It freaked out the egrets. --- John

Thanks a bunch, Harry. 5,000 captures ought to keep you out of trouble for a few weeks. mwink.gif Can't wait to see what you got.

Hey thanks, Awais. I actually spent quite a bit of time trying to get a good blur shot like that. It's not as easy as it looks!

I may try your B&W suggestion.

Thanks, John. Glad you liked 'em. As I mentioned in your coyote thread, I'd forgotten how skittish the birds were at SS. I'd been planning to go back to SS some time soon. But maybe should just stick to Bosque now, even though it's a lot further. I'm real curious whether you saw the burrowing owls this time.

BTW, I was fortunate to attend a talk given by the head biologist at Bosque. Learned all sorts of interesting stuff, most of which you probably already know. I was surprised to learn that snow geese have to rest four or five days to recover from just one day of flying. So each hour spent eating is real important to them. Turns out that just taking off expends several eating hours worth of energy right there. That really brought home the importance of treading lightly around them.

    Cheers,
