I agree an old cemetery can make for some really great photos, and I love them in black and white. Good job on your shot. I like the composition and good eye keying in on the crypt with the broken door. This looks like the cemeteries in New Orleans.
Would love to hear from you on my blog, or website!

    Howdy Chris,

Really neat shots, very moody, and surreal.

We may heading down that way during Christmas, any shooting suggestions?

    Kindest Regards,

    Hi Craig,
many places to shoot, really. Of course you can't go wrong in the French Quarter. The Fauberg Marigny, just next to the Quarter, has a lot of neat colorful homes. The cemeteries are all pretty much in the same area, about 10 minutes from downtown. You can view my New Orleans galleries here for some ideas.

Really nice shots, guys! I went up to the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery (yes, of Headless Horseman fame) last month. Here are a few shots from a cold, windy day:

Hey Chris - really like your shots especially the 2nd one.

Moose - thanks for sharing these. Didn't know there was a Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Kind of extra spooky. Nice context with the Washington Irving headstone. I really like the fence and 4 headstones.

    Keep 'em coming...

Ahhhhhhh so the person who was buried in the second one changed their mind and came back to the land of the living did they rolleyes1.gif

It's interesting to read the tomb stones, and see also how people just can't let go of this life by the grave sights they have almost as monuments.

I like old cemeteries too Mike.
    Thanks for sharing thumb.gif ... Skippy :D

In downtown Annapolis history and ghosts are fun past times. At Church Circle the parish is St. Anne Episcopal which was founded in 1692. For hundreds of years people were buried on the site that is now Church Circle, many of the graves were marked with only wooden crosses which have rotted away over time. For almost 70 years a man named Joe Simmons was the sexton of the church and his love of all things to do with death and interment earned him the nickname "Joe Morgue". It is said that when he died at 100 years old he decided to stay at the parish as a ghost and he can occasionally be seen with a shovel under his favorite tree.
