Waiting for Bob...

This past wednesday I had the chance to meet Bob, or Maple Leaf from the STF forums. For those who don't know who I am speaking of, Bob is 85 and a real spirited individual and photo enthusiast. He and his wife were in Ottawa visiting on a guided bus tour, I met up with them at a scheduled stopping point.

While waiting for him to arrive I had a chance to visit what I think is the hidden gem right inside this city, the Experimental Farms Arboretum. I wasn't there at optimum time of day, or year as the leaves are just starting.

Bench that looks out onto Rideau Canal.

I just love the variety of trees, different shapes and sizes...

People like to bring their dogs for walks here, it was quiet on a weekday...

Thanks Ben, I like your shot too. Something about the age, and experience of trees make them fascinating subjects to shoot. Not always great shots mind you, I'm workin' on that! :D

Nice pics, I like your colors!
So how was Bob? And Barb? I wish we could meet that easy. I just told him today at STF that it would be nice to have a real chat. I'm in his prelimenary trip schedule now :D That would be something. clap.gif

    Hi Adrian!

Meeting Bob and Barb was almost exactly like I had imagined; they are the "real deal". iloveyou.gif They are the kind of couple that you see walking slowly, hand and hand, stopping to look at things, talking, laughing... To meet and talk with folk like them is something I always treasure, as would anyone I suppose. Unfortunately we really didn't have much time to chat, or even shoot. An hour, and then they were gone... :cry

If you can, connect with him. And try to keep up! I was serious in my STF post about keeping up with them, I'd say for their ages that they are in supreme shape (very healthy people). To meet them was much more about meeting someone you respect and admire, than someone you have a shared enthusiasm with. Although that was there too...thumb.gif

Good luck Adrian, and thanks for the comments!

Thanks Jeff. :D lol I don't know ANY, and I mean ANY photographers here in my hometown Ottawa. With the exception of Bob and Barb, I have to travel hundreds, if not thousands of miles to meet the one's I "know". headscratch.gif
