Do you have more words for the series, since this is a "Journeys" thread.
Photos that don't suck / 365 / Film & Lomography
I am, as you can see, a noob and prefer to tread lightly.
My wife and I moved from OC California to Paris a few years ago. In that time we have grown our family, stopped riding as much, and started getting involved in photography. Thus I find myself lurking on DGrin.
So, if its interesting to people, I will revisit this thread from time to time and put up some recent photos of our adopted city/country.
This evenings' (yes, its 11pm for me) topic is what I call, “new blue”.
The Eiffel is normally lit with yellow lights. But, as the French president is also currently the sitting EU president, they decided to “paint” it blue each evening with lights. In the day it’s the color in photo #1, each evening it goes to blue.
A – Normal color of the lights
B – the new blue with EU stars
C – under the skirt (with tripod 10-22 wide angle lens)
That’s all for tonight. Tomorrow might be a good day for the Marias.

What are the Marias? I tried to google but fell short. It sounds so romantic, like Paris.
A harbor? or Waterfront?
edit: Can I visit and sleep on your couch for a week.
The Marais is the oldest part of Paris, and home to its finest churches.
old narrow cobble stone streets such as Rue De Rosiers, named after the roses that grew outside of the old castle wall.
Ile de cite, home to a famous church
and its sister island, Isle de St. Louis.
street musicians play on the bridge between the two islands.
accross the river is St. Germain des pres, home to the oldest tree in paris (planted in 1602)
and, of course, more old churches. cant throw a stone in paris without hitting an OFC (old frikkin church)
but most importantly, the Marais is the best place for an American Breakfast in all of Paris.
Happy tummy makes happy girls.
thanks. its fun.
I looked through the photos the other day and realized why this one is my favorite.
to me, its a reminder of a long time ago when i use to go to church on sunday mornings... but with an old building in the background.
Welcome to dGrin.
I love your series. Brings back fond memories and I'm envious you've relocated to Paris.
Since you live in Paris and are not traveling you might care to share some of these wonderful images in the Locations forum.
