help with CS2

I don't know what happened. I must have changed a setting somehow but everytime I open CS2 there is a hand that replaced the cursor. If I click on any of the tools ie clone, smudge, dodge anything it just has the hand and I can not do anything except move the image around. Can anyone offer advice on what I did and how to fix it? Thanks.

I'm guessing that your preferences might be corrupt. Try resetting them by hold Ctrl-Alt-Shift before clicking on Photoshop (or a file that would normally launch photoshop).

You should get a prompt that asks you if you want to delete your Photoshop settings. Say yes. Everything should return to default.

Hopefully this will fix your problem.

I've had this happen and simply rebooted the computer (PC) and all was back to normal. If not, then you may have to reset your preferences as Brad says.

thanks for the advice. I got it working somehow not really sure what I did. I will try this next time it occurs. Again thanks for the help.
