Smugmug has added a great deal of value to the pro member accounts this year, 2008.

WIth 2009 rapidly approaching, I thought it might be fun to toss around: What will smugmug add to the value of our pro accounts for 2009?

Thought it might be fun to have a guessing game :D

Let's try to guess what things Smugmug is going add to the features list this coming year, 2009. I'm not suggesting we create a wish list for 2009 of any kind but if you want to take your wishes and turn them into guesses for the fun of this thread.....
by all means go ahead, no body will know they are wishes :wink

Guess I'll start things off.

I say smugmug is going to finally introduce Smug Stock. That is, stock images available as RF stock images to browsing buyers. How they get the "word out" about this is going to be another guess since Smugmug typically does not do much in the way of advertising but... I"m not sure you can "word of mouth" your way into getting buyers to visit :wink so we'll see what the great minds at the Smug capitol of the US come up with. And might also be fun to guess what they will CALL this stock photo offering? Wink.

Ok..... your turn to Guess :D

We have it now for YOU, the pro, to purchase - having it be something your customers can configure, choose, buy, etc is definitely cool and we'd love it :D

Yes. For customer's that would definitely be cool. It's those little "add ons" that help boost the sales figures.

option for customers to buy our images framed....
at a profit for the pro

option for customers to buy our images as a 5 x 7 card....
at a profit for the pro

You guys must either be a)so sure that this is coming out this week or next week without ANY possibility for failure or b)morons. This level of teasing could only be attributed to one of the two...

BTW: not trying to be a jerk, I really believe that a) is the case, not b) :-P

What is the status on having an alternate printer available to users?

We are currently using a local printer until the new printer is available, which is making our process flow frustrating since we are switching between smugmug for small prints and the local printer for large prints. We have to do it so that we don't get damaged prints in the larger sizes.

It's been a month since this was mentioned as being "close". Any news?

ETA: I just saw the other thread and see that there is still no information about the second lab and when it will be available.

I really have to ask why the professional users here cannot get some information as to when this lab will be available. Our business decisions are being based on this. A month ago, we were told "soon". But for four weeks worth of clients and orders, we have had to use inconvenient work-arounds.

"Soon" is not a professional answer to this question.

I've mentioned in other threads, we're done internally, testing - now it's time for the release - hopefully very soon!

we were hoping it would be out by now, but things happen. There are a lot of moving parts that need to be absolutely solid before we can turn this on. If we had told you a month ago that it would be out any second, then had to postpone, would we be any better off than we are now?

Like Andy said, we're done testing internally and we hope it ships "very soon" ne_nau.gif

I'd love to see these implemented:
1 - Payment by electronic funds transfer
2 - Foreign Currency option in the shopping cart
3 - RM Sales (especially for editorial clients)
