I also created a little slide show
C&C more than welcome .... photos were taken mostly in Rajasthan (+ Amritsar & Varanasi).

Aw. Thanks Awais! Means a lot coming from you!
Thanks Richard
You need to get out more.
ARGH. Tell me ... I used to travel (A LOT) ... - especially to developing countries, but for some reason I just don't get a chance anymore .... + my husband has practically NO vacation .... This year I thought I would "deserve" a little "field trip" and just packed my 2 cameras, my backpack & had TONS of fun ..... hmmmm wish I could do that more often :cry
Cuong
absolutely fantastic pictures. The colours are great, I also love the
feeling of life you captured...the interacting, the expressions just very,
very amazing. I have never been to far eastern countries, but it seems the
people there seem more relaxed having their picture taken as here in Europe. Here they just react so suspicious when you point a camera at their face. But it can of course also be your charm and that you are great with people.

Thanks Cuong & Nikolai!!
Thanks for the kind comment Heidi! It was actually really funny, I was in some quite remote areas, so most of the people were VERY excited to have their photos taken (and see them later on the back of my camera after I took the photo). The funny thing was that I was just about in as many photos ... in some of the cities there were mostly tourists from India / no whities, so instead of me photographing I felt like I was in way more photos than I got from them. They would just step up to me and ask me if I would mind to join them in a family photo, and start giggling ... haha ... so that was quite entertaining - others came up to me and asked me to take their photos (mostly big families that were traveling) - ... and then there were those that were only willing to pose if they had a feeling you'll pay them afterwards ..... but mostly it was really easy to get portraits.
I was recently in Bangalore and Mangalore, much more southern that where you were. Amazingly kind people, punctuated by extreme poverty.
We were on business, so we were kept somewhat away from the everyday people. We did manage to go to our driver's home one evening. He earned $5K per year, but was considered relatively wealthy in his home town.
Rich in blessings, but extremely poor by western standards.
Your rich colors remind me of the area - great job in exposures and post processing.

I agree, they are very nice people ... just very friendly, welcoming & .... curious ... it was a lot of fun. And you are right, nothern India wasn't much different, there were VERY many poor people around (most of them were living basically right next to the highway in their tiny little huts ... & most kids actually left school after the 4th grade and helped their parents - IF they ever went to school) Cows / dogs alllllllllll over the place, but it did never feel like they were that poor, (I guess they don't know different), but when you talk to them they're very happy people that will be just glad to invite you into their little kingdoms and cook some amazing food .... they are rich, just in a different way .... and it shows ...

Yes, I think I'll make a small WHCC book :smooch I usually don't get to do "photos for myself" .... and when I don't ever print them ... so I think it's about time for a small album

It's funny, but I'm usually more drawn to taking photos of women, but during this trip I only got a few shots of women, most of the ones I got were old men .... their faces just had so much character .... Thanks for the comments!!!
Some very nice photos. Number 9 is my favorite.
