Have you seen the series? It's a sci-fi western. When I first heard this I was dubious - but then again Star wars is a samurai western so I thought I'd give it a go... and I'm glad I did. Refreshing. Well worth seeing. I'm not a buffy or Angel fan but I really liked Firefly.

The movie is due out in September in America. There's an advance screening on the 26 May (check out ebay - tickets are going for a crazy sum).

My guess, considering how movies usually go for Oz, is that it'll be out here in 2006 - if at all. It's bizarre how long movies take to get here (if they make it. We still haven't received Code 46 (2003) in this country.)

I've been waiting for the movie ever since the series was cancelled. There's also going to be a short Comic Book series out to bridge the gap between the series and the movie.

Fantastic... great to see it's Dark Horse. I've nothing but respect for that comic house (mind you - I collected back in the 80's. Things may be different now).

Thanks for the link. Heard about Wonder Woman? (btw - just worked out how to imbed links after seeing your post... cheers.)

Hi Simon.........I'm not one who likes to go to the movies, I wait till they come out on DVD, I have hundreds of DVD's and always watch them more than once, I confess I love the Disney Movies, and Science Fiction too, love a good Thriller, or Suspence, and if I think it's gonna be too scary I watch it in the day time so I can sleep at night rolleyes1.gif I dunno why but it just doesnt have the same frightful impact watching it in the daytime than it does in the night ......this makes good for night time sleeping :lol4 it will be intersting to see what's out in USA for August and September while I am there.

    Take Care Simon......... Skippy (Australia)

Yep, I heard about that one, too. Definitely familiar territory for Joss: Strong female character with super powers! :D

Glad I could help with the links!

Hadn't heard of that one. But then again, I don't get cable TV. Was it ever on the Sci-Fi network in the States?

I'm still upset that Enterprise was cancelled. :cry 40 year franchise! I'll bet there's gonna be a mega-DVD S.T. package for sale pretty soon. Something like "40 years of Star Trek TV shows and movies - 122 DVD set!" and for only $999. rolleyes1.gif

    Gahhh bahhhh rarrrrr!!!!!
This cheeses me off to no end that they took off the air one of the best sci-fi shows around, and yet a turkey like Andromeda continues to exist. Pardon me while I huff and puff for a few minutes here.

Well at least there will be a movie...

    Thanks for the info.

No worries, Shay. I agree with what you're saying. Apparently it was due to a stupid timeslot placement. And to prove it wasn't the show, but the timeslot it was moved to: After Firefly was canned the channel moved its No.1 rating show there - and it died real quick.

Hopefully the movie will inspire *someone* to continue the series. I personally think it could be as big as Trek.

    As for Star Wars...

Some of us actually watch Andromeda. Sure, it's not up to the Trekker and Stargate quality shows, but the ladies are nice to look at, even though the story is quite lame.

Did anyone catch the salute to Star Wars in the last episode, when the two Andromeda avatars, when confronted by the bad dudes, one of the ladies waved her arm and said "These are not the droids you are looking for." ?

AWESOME news! That was a great series and I hope you're right and the films renews interest!

Bummed to hear that Enterprise was cancelled though... Not that many decent scifi shows as it is... bncry.gif
