Beauty Portraits: Attitude!

Here, I have done something very different and I am terribly proud of this set of images I've worked on. The person featured in my images is my close friend here in Bangkok. His name is "Bee".

Bee has a very strange character. Most people will find him very stuck up and very arrogant. He doesn't care about the feelings of others when he speaks. Direct and sharp, he will punch through your defenses and cut right through your feelings. But towards me, he is one of the best friends I ever had in my life. Deep inside his arrogant and stuck looks, Bee is a very caring friend. He is right there when you need help, especially if you have feelings to utter. Bee will always buy cans of beer and cigarettes and will just sit there hearing you sulk your sorrows while he gulps down beers, plays his guitar and smokes his sticks...

Well... I am very grateful having such a friend although many people whom didn't know Bee well will get turned off by his attitude. Yes, attitude and this shoot all about attitude. I am portraying Bee's character through my images. See if you can grasp a slight glimpse of Bee's wrath!

great set..his personality really does show. My only nit pick is the cigarettes in the teeth is in almost every picture which is a bit distracting.

I agree the shots would be better if he lost the smokes

Great set!! I as a musician love the gear in the shots with BEE. Haven't seen Laney heads around here much in the States.

Only nit is the smokes. They aren't in every shot, but enough to make me say to myself as I scrolled the set "ugh, another cig picture" rolleyes1.gif

Thanks for the replies and comments so far. Appreciate your comments. Just would like to highlight about the cigarettes are all intentional. It brings out Bee's character vividly.

When we take photos of people, we are capturing them as what they are and not asking them to do what we think is right. Unlike high end fashion and glamour shoots where there are certain elements needed to be present and certain details that is best left out, my style (or at least this theme) is to bring out the character of the person even if I have to use props to aid that.

I think we should learn to see things objectively and always put ourselves as someone who doesn't know nuts about photography when viewing pictures. We will enjoy and appreciate the picture shown better. :)

Great series! Defiantly agree about the cigarette. With most of the shots it is broken it does distract from the rest of the photo. The color scheme is great. Hard to go wrong with black and red.<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/clap.gif&quot; border="0" alt="" > <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/clap.gif&quot; border="0" alt="" > <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

I agree the cigarettes do add to drama/personality to the shots..and if I had seen only one picture then it is not an issue. But as a set of pictures the frequency and the similarity of all the cigarettes shots look a bit staged and repetitive.

Great job, Zeckson! The smokes are part of his personality, and you're right for stating that. (This comes from a devout non-smoker.)

To continue your thoughts: The idea behind shots like these is to create a number of them, from which the subject will choose just a few for his zed card or just one for an album cover: In this case, repitition is necessary.

    Very good! My faves are 4, 6, 11, 13 and 17.
