Is there an app to do this?

Is there an app which would keep a snapshot of my smugmug galleries (perhaps including all picture sizes) in sync on my desktop

I am asking for a 2 way sync... ie..
1. any file I put into my directroy structure gets uploaded to smugmug (the sync may be user triggered provided there is a facility to diff)
2. any file I upload directly to smugmug gets downloaded into my directroy structure (the sync may be user triggered provided there is a facility to diff)

I see this as a very powerful means to browse / manage / work with smugmug alongside the comfort of having a full backup at hand always

Does something like this exist?

Looking at the lack of any response, the answer sounds like a no? Seems I'll need to figure out my own way (or write an app)

NitroDesk doesn't do exactly what you want, but it's close. It shows you a in the local app what photos you have in all your galleries online. You can add photos to the gallery from the computer using NitroDesk and if you upload photos to the gallery from somewhere else they will appear in the local app next time you open it. If you want to download the pictures you can but it's not automatic.

have fun coding :-) ... two way sync not a trivial thing to do. You'll have to make some assumptions, since your hierarchy can only have 3 levels and some other things. But all in all it should be possible ... and the API can give you md5 sums which might come in handy, in some cases. I tried to integrate it into my own uploader but i didn't get very far :-)

Several months ago we did some work on the API to make it compliant with Microsoft's Sync Framework. Microsoft have a sync app called SyncToy which allows you to set up syncing on a folder by folder basis, but at this point they haven't released the new version that has SmugMug support included.

Alternativetly, Windows based developers might want to looking the MS Sync Framework.
