Red-billed Gull

I normally wouldn't take photos of gulls. After all they're all over the place. But for one, I'd never seen red-billed gulls before. Secondly, I was sitting in the middle of their rookery trying to photograph shags and terns on the rocks below and became intrigued watching the gulls fight for nest sites. They robbed nesting materials from each other, stole one anothers nests, and generally kept up a constant turmoil. So I grabbed a few captures :dunno

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks, Harry. Glad to see you don't have the same sentiments towards gulls as for those unmentionable buck-toothed little critters eek7.gif

Beautifully done. This is my first time seeing gulls with red bill and legs.

Thanks, folks. I'd never seen red bills before either. They are just as noisy as every other variety of gull I've ever seen and were all over NZ both coastal and inland ne_nau.gif

Here's one more. I sat within 5 feet of this one for about half an hour. She glared at me for the first couple of minutes then just ignored me. It's only fitting that she be published :D

These are great! That red bill and feet really stand out because of the white plumage. And actually great job on the exposure too because of the white plumage. Love the eye contact too.
