So close...but so tired.
This is one of my favorite shots of my daughter. It makes me laugh every time I see it. I think even her cat was confused as to how she could have fallen asleep on the way to bed.

you would never guess she had a great time and wanted to go again.
My camera was a Nikon D300 with the 18-200 zoom.
This is my first post. I hope I did it right.
Hey Karrie - that is (or that WAS) my parents' house!!! Do/did you live in their neighborhood? Small world!
My dad put the "Open House" sign there after the house was literally blown away by the tornado that tore through Suffolk, VA this past May (or was it the end of April?). They had just put the house on the market! My brother and I put that furniture back up on the foundation (which was literally wiped clean - even the carpet was blown off) and arranged it more or less like it was B.T. (Before Tornado). A photojournalist took an overhead shot of it from a helicopter and turned it into a full two-page spread the next day.
The amazing thing is, my mom was in the house when the tornado hit. She got tossed up in the air and blown around, and landed in what used to be the garage. The rest of the house landed in a heap right beside her, burying her glasses and the shoes she had been wearing. When the tornado passed (literally a matter of seconds), she stood up and miraculously walked away to a neighbor's house, where she was comforted and treated for shock, but no serious injuries.
Although nothing (except my mom) that was in the house survived (in fact, the entire 2nd floor was nowhere to be found), we were all so happy that she was okay that we didn't care about the loss of all their stuff. It was truly a miracle.
I'm happy to report that my parents are now in a new home in Chesapeake and I was able to be there for an early christmas with them both. Here's a before and after for ya:
Rock Star!
This young fellow was having fun at a wedding I photographed this past summer. I happened to be in the right place at the right time to catch him rocking out.
Hey Karrie - that is (or that WAS) my parents' house!!! Do/did you live in their neighborhood? Small world! ...
OMG!!! That is absolutly crazy! I cannot believe she was in that house... WOW.
I volunteered to take photos for a group that was helping with the clean-up. I spent the whole day walking around 3 neighborhoods taking photos. I can't describe the feelings I had, walking through other people's smashed lives.... man... but when I walked up on your parents house...I couldn't help it I just started laughing...out loud. I looked around to make sure I was by myself because if some one was looking at me -but not what I was looking at it- would have looked like I was the devil or something...you know, laughing at an inapropriate time...
Thankfully, I don't live in any of the neighborhoods that got hit. I am glad your parents are doing good now. I have always wondered about that house...it was obvious that the furniture was placed there after the tornado but I didn't know if the open house sign was there before or after... interesting... Your parents place/that photo has gotten a lot of comments.
Here is the gallery of some of the photos I took that day..
