Phil - I really like these! I was fortunate to go to Snowdonia once, years ago, so these brought back a nice memory. As for the quality, I really like the comp and the softness of the water in #2. I like the water in #1 in the foreground--can't decide if it is ice or coal or slow-moving water. The uncertainty creates interest to me and the abstract lines are nice. I'm distracted by all the business in the center of the photo. I think both images could use some boost in the saturation.

There is my 2cents. I'll look forward to seeing your version with the layers and masks work.

    Cheers,
    Lauren

I like the second one more, the stream forms a stronger leading line, guiding the viewers eyes right upto the mountain. The foreground is in focus to ensure a big dof.

HDR conversion looks good with no halo and haziness.

I'd like to see a version with a slightly warmer color temp and a touch more contrast as well.

thanks for commenting, it is really bleak up there with not much colour, not to sure if more saturation would look right.
will try it & post comparison

I like 'em both but the 1st is my favorite composition by far. Something at the bottom of the second makes me feel like it's cut off but I don't really know why. The 1st seems more complete. Also like the increased saturation.

    Beautiful shots - beautiful place.

I like the first one better Phil and much better with more saturation.

Very cool. I like the ice formation in photo 1. That is cool.

I do like the new version of #2--just enough boost to give it some more "pop" but not overdone, IMO. Nice job.

Well I have got to say that I would not have thought that was HDR - excellently done.
I just wonder if I may put a slightly different slant on the processing, by adding some Local Contrast (7 pixels worth) to the stream and hills - maybe I've over done it. What do you think? If you want to experiment, it's an interesting action I found and you can download it from my web site.
Great image - would be nice to know what the original exposures were.
Thank you for sharing it with us.

15524779-Ti.gif #2 is my favourite Phil. The added saturation gives it a much warmer glow than the original. Nice set. thumb.gifthumb
