Well here we go with my second attempts at learning False Colour :D
Finally figured out where I was going wrong, and I'm very happy with the results.

Thank you Craig (PANTHER) for steering me in the right direction,
I appreciate your help :clap

All shots taken with a IR Converted Canon 40D and Tamron 24-125mm Lens,
hand held.

So here we go, four images for your critique :thumb enjoy .... Skippy :D

These are very good, Skippy. Do you have a "color enhanced" conversion or are you adding this color in pp? Just curious.

    Hi Skippy,

These are all very well done. But that third one is, to me, a genuine WOW picture....truly outstanding. Your skill level is progressing rapidly. You're going to put these old boys in here, that shoot IR, on the run in short order. Keep it up.

    Hi Skippy,

#1 doesn't do a lot for me but #2 and #4 - Wow. Superb. I'm just learning about this IR stuff and everytime I see some, I become a bigger fan. Time to go get another body and have it converted???

    Howdy Skippy,

    Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Those are wonderful, each and every one of them.

I really like each one for different things, but my Favorite is the one with the train tracks, that is stellar composition and subject, and the post processing takes it over the top.

    You're Hooked Nowrolleyes1.gif

    Very, Very Nicely Done Maxine!!!

    Kindest Regards,

    Craig
    Take care,

Thank you all for looking and commenting.

The filter I had is not a colour one, my images with no custom white balance are RED.

The four shots I edited were done using this tutorial.

    http://stevencastle.wordpress.com/2008/07/17/digital-infrared-processing-part-ii-false-colour/

I'm not sure why some shots take on more colour than others,
but I'm assuming it has to to with whatever is your shots ability to obsorb infrared.......trees and vegetation do not all turn out the same.

I was surprised at the amount of colour I was able to get out of the Railway line shot, I orginally only converted it from a RED image to Black&White.

The colour was added doing Channel Swap with RED & BLUE Channels.

I'm slowly going through some of IR's to see how they look in False Colour now that I have figured out how to do it :D

Thanks again Craig (PANTHER) and thank you to SAM for taking me to this place while I was visiting in the USA thumb.gif .... Skippy :D

Number two and four here as well. thumb.gif

#2 has that big bold intial eye impact, and when you're drawn in, it has all that dreamy-cool look filling in the big vegitated shapes contrasted with the hard-cold railroad bed shapes. Just awesome.

Skippy, now that you have both the tool and technique to create those awesome IR shots, you should consider joining the League of Creative Infrared Photographers , founded by Andy. Membership is free till Dec 31, 2008, so don't pass it up.
